The support matrix at IBM SSIC web page, at https://www-50.ibm.com/systems/support/storage/ssic/interoperability, shows that TS4300 with LTO HH drive supports the direct attachment by specifying; "IBM System Storage LTO Ultrium Tape" in Storage Family field "Fibre Channel" in the Protocol field ...

Just a minor correction. - The latest version is "2.4.5" - SDE runs on Windows "10" and Windows Server 2016. It should be also noted that IBM is planning to discontinue the support of Windows at the end of April, 2023. So, it is best to consider to use the new copy tool on Linux. https://www ...

You may want to check ltfs_ordered_copy command, which copies the files in the order of physical location on source tape. https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spectrum-archive-sde/2.4.5?topic=commands-ltfs-ordered-copy ------------------------------ TAKESHI ISHIMOTO ------------------------------

It is not a good idea to press and hold the blue button long period of time, which will trigger the reboot of tape drive rather than ejecting the tape. Depending on the previous operation, this operation will make the LTFS tape in inconsistent state. Best to find some Windows system tool, equivalent ...

@Kevin Butt, Just for your awareness, there was similar topic on another thread for the same HBA but on Linux. https://community.ibm.com/community/user/storage/communities/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MessageKey=a0acf0fd-9223-42b2-9d63-09c3d8247f0e According to Abe-san's analysis in that ...

I believe each tape device will have the device name of sg, st and nst. Try lsscsi and determine the sg device name. Yes, please ask ATTO if they have tested with the tape and software because the adapter is not listed in the IBM hardware compatibility list at https://www.ibm.com/systems/support/ ...

1) Please use sgXX rather than stXX or nstXX. 2) If sgXX does not solve the problem, please check your HBA. If this is a RAID controller, suggest to use the plain SAS adapter. ------------------------------ TAKESHI ISHIMOTO ------------------------------

Yes, Linux version is CLI only. 1) If the tape is not yet initialized by LTFS, you need to format the tape using mkltfs command (similar to what mkfs command does). https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spectrum-archive-sde/2.4.4?topic=commands-mkltfs 2) You need to mount the tape using the ltfs command ...

If the value 0x1000 is the parameter code for Write Cycles, you may try sg_logs command with --paramp option set to 4096 (decimal number of 0x1000) as well as --page. If this does not work, you probably need to get the complete log page 37h, and decode the result. ------------------------------ ...

I'm not aware of the case where IBM LTFS displays a wrong capacity number. Could you point where you get that information? A couple of things you have to remember (regardless you use LTFS on Windows, or Linux or Mac). a) The usable space (remaining space or free space) indicates the amount of files ...
