  • 1.  Trouble Ejecting Tape

    Hello,

    Has anyone come across this issue or know what might be a fix for it?

    I just put in a LTO-8 tape with data on it into my drive to check a few things.  I didn't even write any new files to the tape.  When I go to eject the tape.. I get an error and it won't eject.

    Error says 'LTFS60230E Cannot perform eject operation because some of the file on LTFS are in use.'

    I don't have any applications open.  Just the Windows Explorer windows (and I am right clicking on the drive and selecting 'Eject').  Has always worked before... very strange.

    I am using the latest version of Spectrum Archive SDE 2.4.4 on Windows Server 2016.  Any thoughts.  If I hold the blue eject button.. I can force eject the tape right?  I didn't try that yet since I wanted to see if I could get the software eject to work.  Thanks.

    It is not a good idea to press and hold the blue button long period of time, which will trigger the reboot of tape drive rather than ejecting the tape.  Depending on the previous operation, this operation will make the LTFS tape in inconsistent state. 

    Best to find some Windows system tool, equivalent to lsof command on Linux, which identifies the name of program/process opening the files on LTFS volume.
