  • 1.  Pulling tapes from scratch

    I'm farily new to TSM and am having some issues pulling tapes from scratch. When doing any operation that requires a scratch volume, the same error occurs. It doesn't matter if it's a 'BACKUP DB' or one of the storage pools running out of space, the same thing occurs.

    Hi Donald,

    I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding the problem that you're having. What is the error that you are getting when an operation or backup/archive session requires a scratch volume? You should be able to see the error in the activity log.

    To view the last 10 minutes of the activity log, use the following command:
    query actlog begint=-00:10

    Donald,

    Your problem statement is not clear please share the output of q actlog se=nodename begintime=-24.

    Please share the log of last 24 hours and additionally I am assuming where you are facing issue that is windows operating system please go to below path and share the error log file of dsmerror.log and dsmsched.log.

    C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient

    Check Your stgpool settings for Maximum scratch vs. used scratch. You may have to increase the maxscratch value.
