    Hi,
Since this is a complex issue between SAP, Oracle and Spectrum  Protect, you may want to open a ticket to them to get a solution. It is very difficult to debug any thing when we do not have any access to logs and applications.

    My humble advice is:
    1. If dsmc backup of files/directoried orks, then Spectrum Protect server is probably ok.  Check logs on client and host to verify.
    2. If normal backup/restore of Oracle db using destination to file, then Oracle is OK. Again verify that no errors are recorded neither server nor client side
    3. If normal backup/restore of Oracle db using rman/tsm, then Oracle is OK. Check logs ...
    4. If backup from SAP is not working when calling Oracle, then SAP should be contacted.
Best of luck in finding the error

    Start at the top:

    1.  dsmc q b *, if this works it proves base connectivity it working.
    2. Perform a log backup using util_file, if this works, it means prole is ok and TDP SAP is installed and at least partially configured.  A restart of prole can also solve many issues.
    3. From a command prompt, type which backint (where backint.exe on windows), make sure only one backint comes up and that it's a symlink if a UNIX system.
    3. Start rman, then use "allocate channel for maintenance type sbt_tape "PARMS=......" to setup load up the shared library (if on UNIX).  This should show the banner of the TDP before it returns to a prompt.  You can then use crosscheck backup all to validate communications.
**If you are on windows, you must make sure that the ORASBT.dll under the tdp_r3 directory is the only one that shows up when you type where orasbt.dll from a command prompt.  For Windows, the Oracle services must be restarted before you can use rman_util, or just a good reboot will make sure.

If all of these work independently, then the issue is with SAP.  The process flow is backint is the one calling rman, so you will need to engage SAP as to why.  Also, realize that the RMAN support must be installed with the initial install of the client (it's just a check box, the default is no)

    Hi Kenneth,

Thank you for the detail information, all looks good to me when I use util file backup and archive job is functioning properly.

I have no option now to check below.

If all of these work independently, then the issue is with SAP.  The process flow is backint is the one calling rman, so you will need to engage SAP as to why.  Also, realize that the RMAN support must be installed with the initial install of the client (it's just a check box, the default is no)
