  • 1.  Library Manager is down

    Hi All,

    I am just looking for a small piece of information, how do you identify on which directory tsm server is installed and moreover what is the process to restart instance name is tsmcopy, I tried dsmserv but it's pointing to other decommissioned server,

    Hi All,

    Anyone can help on this it is version 5.5.6 I am not getting much help on google or  any other place please advise. how to identify on which directory it is installed I have started this on foreground through dsmserv i am able to see it is on and but when i am trying to connect dsmadmc it is throwing error below.

    ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure
    ANS8023E Unable to establish session with server.

    ANS8002I Highest return code was -50

    at the same time from foreground process i am able to run q drive and q sess and q stat things are visible and command are executing before down i have a snapshot how it was working attaching that as well,
    please advise what next can be done.

    Hi All,

    Any advise any suggestions pls dsmserv process is still active but I am not able to connect through dsmadmc no clue what should be the next step.

    Hi All,
    Below is the log which i found from dsmerror.log  file, but all the connection is intact we have just rebooted that library manager services. please advise further.

    01/31/19 14:35:06 ANS5216E Could not establish a TCP/IP connection with address 'LOCALHOST:1700'. The TCP/IP error is 'A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.' (errno = 79).
    01/31/19 14:35:06 ANS9020E Could not establish a session with a TSM server or client agent. The TSM return code is -50.

    Prem,

     

    Are you sure that you are logged onto the server as root prior to entering the dsmadmc command?

    Yes Brenda I am sure but what I see surprisingly two things one server to server communication is in place from tsm 100 to tsmcopy , tsmcopy where I have originally issues, I am trying to put tsmcopy:q session from tsm 100 it's not connecting and one I go into host on tsmcopy as soon as I supply dsmadmc it is returning with same error which I have provided, server to server connection is on 1700 port, that port is refusing on telnet when I am connecting to tsmcopy from any other tsm server host but when I change in client .sys file on tsmcopy with 1500 port on tsmcopy host my dsmadmc works, in sort I am confused now where to check and what to check because it is a server ideally any changes should be under server directory but when I change the port number on client  sys file it is working no clue as of now.

    Hi Prem,

    Do you have a dsmserv.opt file that is located in the non-default location?
    Just wondering if your server is coming up using the wrong opt file, hence the issue with the admin ports.

    Hi Darren,

    Thanks so kind of you, you and many of others are very supportive and sharing your experience I appreciate it, I was searching the dsmserv manually than I started I don't know how but somehow it is strated working now with root one of my mate given dsmserv quiet it is very surprising for me. but now it is started working all of a sudden, I have checked now on q sys on that server it is 1500 admin port but although server to server communication on 1700 port, I don't know how it is resolved automatically.

    Hi Darren,
    You are right i am suspecting this is started from other directory now what i can see server is up but in the actlog it is showing library initialization failed. because earlier it was running from below command.

    dsmserver quiet --LM -TSMcopy

    now it is running from

    dsmserv quiet .

    i am suspecting somehow in the command it initialize the LM, means library manager now i have no clue how to finalize this when i run db backup on this library it's failing library initialization failed unable to mount .
    I need suggestion from here what can be checked and done, i tried to search on Aix host where library manager is there i am not able to find any file or directory from LM name i have another thought probably it is started from remote host.
