  • 1.  IP replication very sensitive

    I have 2 FlashSystem V9000 storage arrays at 2 different sites.  I'm doing IP based replication.  The Link bandwidth is 1Gbps.  I have compression enabled.  I'm doing Global Mirror with change volumes.

     

    I get these alerts routinely every week and I'm wondering if there is some tuning that I can implement to make this replication link less sensitive.  Because when I check the replication after getting these alerts, it is always working fine.

     

    This is the error:

    # Error ID = 70889 : Failed to create remote IP connection # Error Code = 2020 : IP Remote Copy link unavailable # Error Type = none # System Version = 8.2.1.9

     

    Has anyone experienced this and can offer tips?

    Hi Norman, error 2020/70889 does not indicate an issue with the replication in terms of RCmaps / RCgrps themselves, it rather points to an actual connectivity issue.
    This might have occurred on either of the two sites or with the inter-site link.
    You might want to post the error details including the sense codes or raise a ticket with support and provide a snap from the two partnered systems.

    I agree that it is a connectivity issue but I'll have to prove it to my network guys.

     

    I've opened tickets in the past but haven't really been able to pin point the exact cause.  It doesn't happen as much but I'd sure like to figure out what is causing it.

    We use FC replication to another site, using fcip switches-so while we don't get that specific error... we do on occasion get a slew of their FC equivalents. It also is sensitive. As long as the devices don't keep on complaining, then we chalk it up to be a temp issue. Only when they keep on complaining, do we know we have a larger issue. For example, in one case, an fcip switch that needed to be replaced ( connections kept bouncing ).
