Whats new in IBM Spectrum Scale CSI driver v2.0.0

By Smita Raut posted Mon July 13, 2020 12:51 PM

IBM Spectrum Scale CSI driver has enabled containerized workloads to use IBM Spectrum Scale as their persistent storage and thus take advantage of its enterprise class features and performance. First released in December 2019, the driver supports dynamic and static provisioning and provides flexibility to provision volumes based on filesets or directories, from different filesystems and even from remotely mounted filesystems. The driver can easily be deployed and managed using the IBM Spectrum Scale CSI Operator.

Version 2.0.0 of the CSI driver has been released on 26th June 2020. This release brings in additional currency support, stability and usability related updates. One of the key functional update it provides is the support for imagePullSecrets. This feature helps in deployments in an air gapped environment where a private image registry is used. Other highlights of this release include-

- Support for RedHat OpenShift 4.4 and Kubernetes 1.18
- Bumped up operator-sdk version and ansible-operator version to 0.17.0
- Improvements in the debug data collection tool
- Usability updates in CR and Storage Class parameters
