As companies start their journey to hybrid cloud, they must modernize infrastructure to protect and manage data growth and cloud-based workloads. An IDG survey found that in 2020, 81% of survey respondents reported already using computing infrastructure or having applications in the cloud, compared to 73% in 2018. Another 12% plan to adopt cloud-based applications in the next 12 months, and 6% plan to do so in the next 1 to 3 years.1

A comprehensive data resilience solution designed to work across hybrid environments can minimize the complexity and costs of managing data, especially at the scale required today. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus on Azure streamlines hybrid workflows with a consistent management experience that supports end-to-enddata resilience, application-consistent backup, rapid recovery, and efficient data reuse for application workloads, including Microsoft 365, and databases such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle, IBM Db2, and MongoDB running on-premises or in IBM Cloud, AWS, and Microsoft Azure.

Some of the key advantages provided by IBM Spectrum Protect Plus on Azure are:

  • Management simplicity - Easy-to-use SLA policies give administrators control over how hybrid cloud workloads are managed and protected. Using predefined or custom policy workflows, administrators can specify the frequency of backups and replication, and retention timeframes with a single set of policies that can be applied to workloads running on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Fast data recovery and data reuse - IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is designed to ensure fast recovery, so companies are protected from the revenue and reputational risks related to extended downtime and operation losses. Storage efficiency features such as incremental forever backup, deduplication, and compression technologies, along with storing protected data in native format, enables both low cost from a storage standpoint and instant access for recoveries. Administrators can rapidly restore operations as well as quickly enable data reuse.
  • Flexible deployment - The solution provides flexible deployment options; IBM Spectrum Protect Plus can be deployed within Azure for an “all in the cloud” data protection experience. It can also be utilized in hybrid environments, protecting Azure cloud workloads even if the platform is orchestrated from an on-premises infrastructure.

"We participated in the beta program of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus available on the Azure marketplace. This solution can help simplify the protection of critical data in the Azure cloud as well as workloads running on-premises. The deployment of the solution was very straightforward, and it was working in one hour.”-- Michael Todt, Head of Business Line – Business Continuity. SVA System Vertrieb Alexander GmbH

To make it simple to deploy, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is available as a supported Azure Marketplace solution. This delivery option provides access to best practices and reference architectures to optimize IBM Spectrum Protect Plus in the Azure cloud while delivering a consistent management experience that supports end-to-end data resilience.

"Data resilience is essential nowadays; organizations need to maintain critical data protected and make sure they will be able to recover it rapidly in case it is required. The latest release of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is now available in the Microsoft Azure marketplace. It can help organizations unify data protection for workloads running in the cloud and on-premises. The deployment of this solution was fast, and we were able to set our environment up in less than one hour." --  Matan Sitbon,  Eshnav Information Systems
