Charles Henderson, Global Managing Partner and Head of X-Force

Charles Henderson

With more than two decades of experience in the information security industry, Charles leads a global team of hackers, researchers, investigators and incident responders. The team provides clients - from Fortune 100 enterprise companies to small and mid-sized companies – offensive and defensive security services. On the offensive side, Charles leads a team of hackers who are hired by clients to find, prioritize, and help fix exploitable vulnerabilities before attackers find them. The team offers penetration testing, vulnerability management and adversary simulation services. On the defensive side, Charles leads a team of first-responders, investigators, and researchers. The team helps clients rapidly detect, respond to, and investigate threats to reduce attacker dwell time and minimize impact. Together, Charles’s offensive and defensive teams create a formidable force for good in a world of threats that are escalating in both number and sophistication.

Charles has been a featured speaker on security testing and incident response at various conferences around the world, including Black Hat, DEF CON, RSA, SOURCE, OWASP AppSec USA/Europe, and SXSW. He has also spoken as a subject matter expert for various top tier media outlets including CNBC, CNN, CBS, NBC, Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and others.

Shawn Pearcy, Hacker, X-Force Red

Shawn Pearcy

Shawn has more than 10 years of experience in information security. His experience has been mostly in the realm of penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, to include web testing, network testing, social engineering, and physical security testing. Shawn's technical background has varied to include supporting telecommunication systems for the U.S. Army and conducting technical support for a wide array of technologies within the private and public sectors. Shawn also has a Master of Arts in Sociology with an academic background in deviance, criminology, sociology of law, and cybercrime studies.

Scott Wilson, Program Manager, X-Force Red

Scott Wilson

Scott currently manages penetration testing engagements worldwide and oversees day-to-day operations for the deployment and delivery of X-Force Red’s Vulnerability Management Service (VMS) teams. Previously, Scott worked as the Information Security Manager at LORD Corporation, a multinational diversified technology and manufacturing company and developer of industrial adhesives, coatings, motion management devices, and sensing technologies. Scott began his cybersecurity career with IBM in 1997, and has held positions with IBM Global Services Security, IBM Network Services as a Firewall Team Leader, and Global Program Manager with the IBM Office of the CIO. Scott has a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and Operations Management and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He previously held additional certifications, including CIPP, CISA, CRISC, and several security product certifications.

Brett Hawkins, Hacker, X-Force Red

Brett has worked in information security for multiple Fortune 500 companies across different industries. He has focused on offensive and defensive disciplines, and is currently on the X-Force Red Adversary Simulation team. Brett holds several industry-recognized certifications and has spoken at top tier conferences including DerbyCon and BSides Cleveland. Brett is also a member of the open-source community. He has contributed to or authored various public tools, such as SharPersist, DueDLLigence and InvisibilityCloak. Brett’s extensive knowledge and experience in a breadth of different information security areas gives him a unique and well-rounded perspective.

Markus Schober, Principal IR Consultant & Cloud IR Services Lead, X-Force IR

Markus Schober

Markus Schober serves as the Incident Response for Cloud Services lead and manager of a team of incident response consultants at IBM X-Force. He has been with X-Force since 2017, where he also leads investigations into large-scale breaches, consults on building incident response programs and conducts advanced cyber security exercises. Markus came on board with IBM in 2016 through the acquisition of IBM Resilient (SOAR), where he worked as a consultant developing incident response processes and integrations for the Resilient orchestration and automation platform. He has a vast technical background through 15+ years of working in the technical services industry as a subject matter expert for security, software, and telecommunication technologies in both Europe and the US and holds a Masters of Science degree in Information Technology.

Michael Barcomb, Global Cyber Crisis Management Leader, IBM Security

Michael Barcomb

Michael (Mike) Barcomb serves as the Global Cyber Crisis Management Leader for the IBM Security business unit. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating incident response for pandemic level cybersecurity attacks affecting multiple IBM Security customers across geographies and/or industries. His career in information security began in 1987 while serving in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Officer and culminated with 30 years of service with the United States Army Reserves in May 2017. Michael has also been employed with IBM since 1991 working in various software development and operational roles. Michael holds a B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems, an MBA, a Masters of Strategic Studies and Masters certificate in Cybersecurity.

Richard Conner, Hacker, X-Force Red

Richard Conner

Richard has more than a decade of experience performing penetration tests across various industry sectors and for large complex projects, including government, cloud, container, message queues, Web, wireless and bespoke. He is very interested in hardware hacking and containerization such as Docker and Kubernetes.
