  • 1.  Migration to dark theme IBM Security SOAR (Resilient) in v41/v40.2

    Dear Resilient Users,
In our v41/v40.2 documentation you will see the following note that explains a change to our color scheme.

    Note
To align with IBM Security design principals, the ability to select color themes for the user interface will be discontinued starting with the V40.2 release. The Theme configuration that is currently available in the user's My Settings will be removed. The user interface will be set to a default theme that will resemble the current Very Dark theme.

For over a year now, we have been updating Resilient's user interface to be more modern with standard web design principals.  Our north star has been the IBM open source Carbon Design System (https://www.carbondesignsystem.com/).  This standard is a user-first framework that provides patterns and guidelines for streamlined digital experiences.  IBM Security has also made a commitment to adopt this system to help our users feel more familiar with our various experiences and provide more seamless interactions as you navigate between these experiences.

Over this time, Resilient has worked to bridge our familiar existing product with the more modern experience based on Carbon.  However, we have come to a point where this bridge can no longer feasibly be maintained.  The decision to remove color themes, and more specifically Light Mode, was not a easy one.

We understand that some users have playbooks and rich text formatting that relies on light mode colors to ensure the proper recognition of important information.  Our recommendation is to reconfigure these playbooks and text formats to provide the intended contrast for a dark themed web experience.  Our hope is that this will be a one-time change.

We understand that we have many SOC teams using these experiences every hour of every day and there will likely requirement some visual re-learning of the new color schemes.  We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

    Thank you.

    Hi Everyone,

We do have an RFE raised requesting modes other than dark, so please feel free to vote for this and/or comment on this so we can better understand the challenges you may face with this change.

    Hi Chuck,

We used the color themes as a way to make it obvious if we were in our production environment (vs development).  So I wouldn't say we care about the light color theme going away, but we would like a way to make the development environment visually different - even if it's just a change to the banner or something.  I'll look on the ideas page for anything that matches what I'm looking for.

    Hi Brian,

Here's one that sounded like it might meet your needs, though I suspect you want something more permanent ?
