    Hello,

The version 9 of IBM i2 ibase has just been released.  The new features have not yet gone through the translation process…
Which means that if you installed iBase in another language than English, you will have parts of iBase 9 in your language (the parts that were in iBase 8), and the new features of iBase 9 will be in English.

iBase 9 provide a way to translate all the text from the interface. You can also use it to modify the text that was on iBase 8, in case you want to replace one text with another which you find clearer, or if you notice some errors in the translation.

To help you with the translation, I (as part of my work as an IBM i2 Support team member), I used an automatic translating tool to translate the new iBase 9 text into some languages :
     - Czech
     - French
     - Dutch
     - Spanish
     - Italian
     - Portuguese-Brazilian
     - Swedish
     - German

IMPORTANT : Except for the French translation (I'm French), all the other translated parts are the result of an automatic translation tool. While the quality of those tools improved greatly the last couple of years, you will see many errors in the translations.
You can use the TRN files as a base, and bring corrections and changes to the text.

We believed that even if the translation quality is not perfect, it is better than no translation at all.

If you do correct the TRN files in your language, don't hesitate to share the modified TRN file here, so that other customers can benefit from your corrections.

If you want to translate the full IBM i2 iBase software in a different language, I've recorded a video that explains how to do this, using an automatic translation tool.  The video should be available soon.

If you have any question, don't hesitate to leave a comment here.

    Hello Jean-Jerome

I would like to help with the german version. Is it ok to just update the TRN file with a standard text editor?

    Thank you
    Renato Schmid

    Hi Renato,

    Thanks for your mail.
Yes, of course, you can use any text editor (well, not Word) to edit the TRN file.
Please keep in mind that I used an automatic translation tool to translate the new text. And there will be of course lots of errors.

If you correct the errors, would you mind sharing your updated TRN file so that it can be shared to other German customers ?

    Vielen danke
