Esri Connector and IBASE

    Hello.

I have instaled IBM i2 Analyst Notebook Connector for Esri 8 (version 8.9.11) to work whit analyst notebook.

My question is if its possible to draw a buffer zone in the map, and then make a query in ibase to show for example events in that area?

Or if its possible to is to have the ESRI Server connected to the iBase DB, and have the data from the table Events as a data source for ESRI so there the data will be available as a dynamic map?

    Thanks

    Hi Paulo

No, it is not possible to draw a buffer zone on the map, and then make a query in iBase with the ANB Connector for Esri unfortunately.

If you have access to the iBase GIS interfaces and ArcGIS Desktop then you can send a larger area of data to a map and then use the buffering tools in ArcGIS Desktop to select a subset of the mapped information that falls within it, which can then be added to an iBase set for further analysis

However, it is possible to have the ESRI Server connected to the iBase DB, and have the data from the table Events as a data source, but it is not straight forward and requires the creation of a view over the Events table as some of the data needs to be restructured in order for Esri to map the data successfully (you cannot change the structure of the Events table itself as that will break iBase).

You would need to be comfortable with working with both SQL Server and Esri to get it to work. I can provide some notes on how to  achieve it, but note that this method is not directly supported by IBM.

    Hi Paulo

There is a simple way to achieve what you are looking for using Point Duty's Esri Connector for IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook which enables geo queries to any connected database including iBase and Esri Portal from within ANB (PD were the first to enable geo query to/from i2 EIA Information Store too)

I belive the videos linked below detail exactly what you are looking for - i.e. define an area on the Map and query iBase for any geodata within - a persistant link between Map and Chart is maintained or data transferred between the Map and the Chart, or visa versa (illustrated in Video 2),
    Link 1: https://youtu.be/uwqjpjU35eU
SIGACT example - no narration but text call outs detail what is happening (though should be obvious to i2 users!)
    Link 2: https://youtu.be/6Ln3ytPbluQ
    Geofence Example (basic narration)

BTW as a newbie to this Group I trust it's OK to post (relevant) info to non-IBM content.
