Many organizations still consider incident response and cybersecurity in general a technical problem which couldn't be further from the truth. There are many non-technical components to a well-designed and robust incident response strategy that often relies on resources outside of the technical teams. Consider the ransomware threat landscape and what a well-designed incident response strategy looks like for ransomware. It becomes a very difficult task to design a response strategy for ransomware if you don't understand how ransomware attacks happen.
Ransomware continues to be the most common attack that IBM Security X-Force Incident Response (IR) team responds to. Successful ransomware attacks facilities via advanced adversaries have become so prevalent across every industry that almost every organization has a high likelihood of being attacked by a ransomware adversary, however not all hope is lost. On December 8, 2021 IBM Security X-Force IR will share their experiences from investigating ransomware incidents for some of the largest organizations in the world and how organizations can use that knowledge to implement a proactive approach to the ransomware threat to ensure that if they are attacked, the adversary can be detected and contained so that impact can be minimized.
