When a device is enrolled in the Maas360 MDN, and the device is set as always on, how often is the location tracked? Same question when a device does not have the always on set on their Maas360 app on their device?

    Hi Thomas
Allow me to wish you a happy holiday season and a Happy New Year!
As you seem to have noticed the MaaS360 may ask you to track location and allow you to decide whether you want it to be all of the time or just when the app is running.
This is a local control meaning the user decides as to how much location data should be tracked on the device, to send at a later stage to the portal.
    • Android devices can have this setting configured in Security > Policies > Android Policy > Device Settings > Device Management > Application Timers. Please note the difference between Collection Frequency (how often it is recorded on the device) versus Upload Frequency (how often the device 'pushes' the data). The upload frequency is set (I believe) to default to 60 minutes ie once an hour.
    • iOS devices can be configured through Security > Policies > Supervised Settings > Restrictions & Network > Restrictions > Allow Find my iPhone. Note that this applies only for Supervised devices which means if you want to configure it then the device needs to be enrolled in Supervised mode (ie with Apple Configurator or DEP). If you did not use these then you would not be able to configure this remotely. However users can choose to switch "Find my iPhone" or "Find my iPad" on or off. By default iOS devices upload data to the portal once every 24 hours.
Independently if it was found that collecting location data was too intrusive, such as in GDPR-applicable countries, you might want to switch off location tracking completely. This can be done in the Security > Privacy menu in the portal.
    I hope this helps!
