Hey Martin,
I'll mention two areas where the removal of the light theme has caused us troubles (although we otherwise are in favor of dark mode):
#1 - The "Analytics Dashboard. Previously, we could screenshot tables/graphs for inserting into reports for our leadership team. We can no longer do this without using Google Chrome's dev tools to force the print CSS theme on the page (our reports are on standard white backgrounds). The Print button
does toggle the theme back to white, but the tables/graphs are unusable in the printer view (cut off, etc). We opened Idea R-I-1022 to help address that part.
#2 - Certain fields. We have email parsers that transfer email body text to an incident description -- when HTML text within the email is hardcoded to a specific color built for white backgrounds (black text), it appears as such in the incident. Typically highlighting the text allows us to see the contents, but if there was a color toggle setting we could enable for fields that would resolve this.

We're aware that previously formatted text pasted into rich text fields, like task instructions, notes, descriptions can have issues and we have a fix in flight for them. However would welcome any other specific issues such as the icon example above.

Hi Resilient Users,
Over the past couple of weeks we've heard a lot of feedback on our recent removal of light mode and its impacts. Some of the feedback was expected but you've also highlighted impacts to this change that we hadn't fully appreciated when we made the decision.
The main such issue concerns content which inherited color formatting from 3rd party applications and which is now stored in our product. This content is not inverting when in dark mode and therefore unreadable.
We're actively exploring with development how we address this issue and will update when we have more news on that.
In the meantime if you find that you are being severely impacted by this change it is possible to re-enable the user theme selection and consequently re-enable light mode on a per user basis as previously.
Running the following command on your appliance, or requesting our ops team to do so for SaaS customers, will bring this feature back.
" resutil configset -key enabled_features -svalue ff_theme_select "
Its important to note that some newer features such as playbook designer may not look as polished in light mode as these were designed from the ground up only in dark mode. If you revert to light mode, please do not raise support tickets on cosmetic issues you may notice in this mode as its not supported and this option is being made available to you as a workaround until we address the underlying color content issue.
