    Hello Seniors, Hope all is well.

    I have few silly questions, We have Installed GIM Client on the Database Servers and then we opened the required ports for the same. I.E. 8445/8446/8081.

    However, after allowing above ports from both directions - still we are unable to do Telnet from DB Server to GIM Server on 8445 Port. so, my question is - Is by default Telnet is blocked to Guardium GIM Server on 8445? OR we should be able to do the Telnet from DB Server to GIM Server and vice vesra.

    Because, Telnet is happening on 8446/8081. but, not on the 8445.

    Also, GIM Clients are not reporting to the GIM Server even after opening above mentioned Ports. Please suggest on the same. Thank you so much.

    Hello,

     GIM is not always listening on that port so telnet not working is not unexpected.  It will communicate on that port when requests are made but it does not listen on those ports at all times.

    Please differentiate communication sides:

    GIM server (located on Guardium appliance) opens ports 8081, 8444, 8446

    GIM client (where you install GIM) opens port 8445 (or specified during installation) only in case of LISTENER mode.

    If you installed GIM in the listener mode you need register it in the GIM server.
