STAP Fail over or Enterprise Load balancing

  • 1.  STAP Fail over or Enterprise Load balancing

    HI Everyone,

I am confused of using S-Tap failover or Enterprise Load balancing.
S-Tap Failover: STAP agents seeks another collector if only primary one is down.
ELB: CM automatically rotates STAP agents to different collectors.

My confusion is if we use ELB, and customer asks 6 months or one year back data for one or two databases we don't know which collector archive files to be restored to get it.
But If we use S-Tap Failover, STAP agent communicates to the same appliance unless if the primary collector goes down.
In second scenario, If I can restore old archive files of respective collector and handover to the customer.

Kindly suggest me which one is better if we need to retrieve old data?

    Thanks,

    Hi Phanendra,

One option is to associate failover MUs to STAP group. When the primary group of MUs are not available stap will failover to the group of failover MUs. That way you can narrow down the collector search. Then use Enterprise Load Balancer Events report to view the MU allocation.
