Imagine being a customer admin, managing thousands of devices using your regular UEM solution. You receive your bill at the end of the month and see that there is an overage for a particular bundle. You contact the support and they inform you that few services are being used by more devices than the actual licenses you’ve purchased. Though unintentional, but now you end up paying more than what was anticipated. Wouldn’t it be better if you were able to have the visibility of which devices use what services and there were no surprises when the bill arrives?
IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson comes to your rescue with a new feature called License Management. It allows you to get a 360 view of the purchased bundles and its usage on the device. Here are the most useful features that it supports:
- Assignment:
- You can assign a license to every enrolled or activated device either manually while creating the enrollment request or automatically.
- You can change the license assignment for a device or multiple devices.
- Consumption:
- The details of all the purchased bundles along with the usage can be viewed on the license overview dashboard right in the portal.
- You have the freedom to choose whether you want to allow overage for a specific bundle(s) or limit its usage to the purchased quantity.
- Visibility:
- License Entitlements can be viewed at the device level.
- Reports are provided to view licenses assigned to the device at bundle and customer level.
- Monthly historical assignment report can also be exported.
- Various alerts are present to notify you on events like license expiry, new license discovery, bundle reaching a threshold limit, bundle exhaustion etc.
- Revocation:
- Devices moving out of MaaS360 via de-enrollment will release the license automatically.
- As an administrator you also have the option to revoke licenses either on inactive devices or while hiding the devices.
You can find more details about the features here.
Eligibility: Currently, license management is not applicable for customers under ESA partners, sandbox accounts as well as customers having user-based licenses.
