With the 4Q19 (December) releases, IBM i2 continues to help accelerate analysis and intelligence production, including improved data fusion, enhanced geospatial capabilities and a new “360-view” capability with the IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis offering, as well as various usability enhancements.

December 19, 2019 general availability:

  • IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis 2.3.1 (and Distributed Example 2.3.1)
  • IBM i2 Connect 1.0.1
  • IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook 9.2.1
  • IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium 9.2.1
  • IBM i2 Analyze 4.3.1 (and Developer Essentials 4.3.1)

4Q19 release highlights include the following portfolio enhancements:

  • Investigation: Major update to the i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis Investigate Add On, allowing operational, non-analyst users to conduct fast target investigation via a web browser to answer common questions quickly and easily. This comprehensive “360-view” capability requires minimal training to use. See the separate i2 Community blog on this exciting new capability, including a demo that brings it alive to you!
  • Fusion: Enhancement to June 2019 release that provided i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis users with ability to fuse duplicate information at the chart level from multiple sources. With this release, added is the ability to apply system-wide or custom matching rules when importing to quickly fuse information with the chart and the information store. When acquiring information via import or “i2 connect” capability, discover existing matches quickly for accelerated insight and further lead generation.
  • Geospatial: Functionality added to i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis to now project geocoded records using your preferred map tile provider for enhanced link analysis, explore geospatial context with base maps and overlays, define geospatial visual query conditions to discover and monitor activity by region, and view and enter geospatial information in the record inspector using a preferred coordinate system. It builds on the previous release which added information store support for storing coordinate data and provide an API to create integration with various third-party GIS applications.
  • Enterprise Deployment: Now available is a new i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis deployment guide based on field experiences. In addition, active standby HA (high availability) support is added.
  • Usability: Numerous usability enhancements for i2 Analyst’s Notebook, i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium and i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis users as noted:
    • Fit selection to window for bar charts and histograms
    • Improvements to desktop client undo stack (manual zoom and pan are no longer included)
    • Exact match in Quick Search over the information store (i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis users)
    • Counts of system governed (ingested) and analyst governed records (i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis users)

Please note: The i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis Investigate Add On is licensed by Authorized User (while i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis is licensed by Concurrent User). An i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis licensed user also has access to the investigate 360-view capability. Note, i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis Investigate Add On licenses can be purchased at a ratio of up to 1:25 (at least 1 i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis license for every 25 Investigate Add On licenses), although it is anticipated for most use cases the ratio will be lower.
