I am uploaded MIB files for the current version of Cisco devices from GitHub Repo. There were about 250 of the files, and I uploaded all to NMS. While running a SNMP walk from UI if the device failed to respond I am seeing lot of MIB compiling related errors. Looked like lot of them had missing modules, so I had to manually find that missing file in google and upload it. But there are also lot many syntax errors and unlinked OID errors as well.

Did anyone experience this before? How did you manage to upload them successfully without manually dealing with these errors?

Thanks

Vishnu

You’re doing the right thing here — for Net-SNMP (and most NMS platforms), you have to import all dependent MIBs and referenced modules as well. You could use tools like smilint or Net-SNMP’s snmptranslate to identify missing dependencies
