Hi All,
I came across a French-speaking Customer Success Engineer role [ID: 125878] on the Career portal and was excited to apply. I'm a French-speaking engineer myself (albeit based out of the Boston area). But a few things gave me pause, and I wanted to flag them here in case others have run into the same thing (or can point me to the right channel).
1. The posting is only in English.
Under Quebec's Bill 96 (in force since June 2022, with francization thresholds tightening further in 2025), job postings for Montreal/Quebec-based positions must be available in French. Employers can post in English too, but the French and English versions have to go up simultaneously, through comparable channels, reaching a comparably sized audience. An English-only posting, or one where English goes live first — isn't compliant.
2. The pay range is listed in USD, not CAD.
This seems inconsistent for a hybrid, Montreal-based role. If the position is based out of a Canadian office, shouldn't compensation be listed in CAD?
3. The company name is missing an accent.
It appears as "IBM Canada Limited – IBM Canada Limitee" instead of "Limitée." Small detail, but it connects to something I've raised before: French-speaking professionals often don't have accent characters built into their standard keyboards, which makes this kind of thing more common than it should be. (Related — I've pitched an idea for a watsonx-powered app that could help Customer Success Engineers guide clients through the sales experience more effectively; happy to share more if there's interest.)
Questions for the community:
- Has anyone else come across postings with similar language or currency inconsistencies?
- Is there a specific team (HR, Legal, or the portal admins) I should route this to directly, or is this the right venue?
Thanks in advance! Curious to hear if this is a known issue or a one-off.
