Hello all,
Currently managing a PowerHA env between 2 nodes with a storage metro-mirror replication. Now, this whole infrastructure - Power 9 & V7000 storage servers - need to be migrated to more recent technology (Power10 servers and IBM FS5300-storage servers).
And as 3 node, I have as well the FlashCopy partition. All running OS 7.5.
What are the best / recommended migration scenarios ?
I would prefer to use some storage replication tools ... but it is not sure that it is supported (sfw level on V7000 and FS5300 are not compatible at this moment). And secondly I'm not sure about the storage replication processing ... today there is already 1 Metro Mirror link between the 2 V7000 Servers (for the luns of the iASP), and I don't think an additional link (Global mirror) can be defined on the same Source Luns (on the V7000) towards the new FS-storage box ?
Or should I consider a chain of replications for the IASP luns (from node1 to node2 (in the old env - already an existing MM link), then from node 2(old) to node1 (on new - new GM link ), and then from node1 (new) to node2 (new -MM)
Any recommendation here ?
And what are the alternatives if storage replication services can not be used within the migration process ?
Should I consider using the OS tools (ASP balancing) to migrate the data from the old luns to the new luns (after attaching new storage luns to the old server for SYSBAS & IASP) + LS migration ? But ... this will result in problems for the FlashCopy ?
Any recommendation is welcome.
Thanks very much.
