You should try to install dnf package manager and use it to install other rpms. Follow this blog --> https://community.ibm.com/community/user/power/blogs/sangamesh-mallayya1/2021/05/28/dnf-is-now-available-on-aix-toolbox?CommunityKey=10c1d831-47ee-4d92-a138-b03f7896f7c9 ------------------------------ ...

The system has some third party openssl files "/opt/freeware/lib/libcrypto.a". You should remove those files ie., /opt/freeware/lib/libcrypto.a & /opt/freeware/lib/libssl.a. Once rpm is working, you can check if any openssl rpm is installed. If so, remove the openssl rpm. ------------------------------ ...

With openssl rpm installed, dnf will not work. Recommendation is to remove openssl rpm. You can get Toolbox version of sudo, OpenLDAP. ( Not sure what is this pe-openssl or pe-ruby). ------------------------------ Ayappan P ------------------------------

If there is no openssl rpm installed in the machine, then that file is a left over from previous installation. Please remove /opt/freeware/lib/libssl.a and then try again. ------------------------------ Ayappan P ------------------------------

You are checking the wrong file (/opt/freeware/lib/libssl.a) in the second scenario. This file is not part of the official IBM's Openssl lpp fileset. It is coming from some openssl rpm. Better remove the openssl rpm. Openssl lpp fileset ships the library in /usr/lib path only. ------------------------------ ...

We had it in the plans. But due to other important works, it is shelved now. It requires significant time & effort to port the new version. We are targeting this in 3Q 2024. ------------------------------ Ayappan P ------------------------------

https://github.com/pyca/pyopenssl This is a pure python package. One can easily use pip command to install this wrapper. Our strategy is to keep the python modules as low as possible in AIX Toolbox because of maintenance issues. ------------------------------ Ayappan P ------------------------- ...

The python community is planning to release a new version "3.9.19" soon. The plan is to wait for couple more weeks. If 3.9.19 is not released in that timeframe, we will backport the CVE fixes to 3.9.18. ------------------------------ Ayappan P ------------------------------

dnf internally sets the LIBPATH to "/usr/opt/rpm/lib". Is it possible for you to repackage the rpm after exporting LIBPATH=/opt/freeware/lib:/usr/lib in the post-install script in the SPEC file ? ------------------------------ Ayappan P ------------------------------
