  • 1.  New Release of Performance Navigator

    Posted Thu October 03, 2024 02:54 PM

    The Fortra aka Helpsystems "MPG" team has been hard at work and just released their newest (19.06) release of PerfNav...

    Performance Navigator (helpsystems.com)

    If you don't know what this tool is or what it does.. This is a GUI based tool that analyzes Perf Data for both IBMi and AIX based systems. There are tons of features that I use regularly - especially as it relates to upgrade planning for IBMi.  I also use it to look at VIOS related nmon data sets.

    If you don't have this tool , I encourage you guys to check it out! (no, this is NOT a paid advertisement! :-) )

    For those that do have this tool and use it regularly - 19.06 has a number of enhancements that you may like or have been waiting for ......

    Enjoy......

    Juan and Rich;

    Thank you.  https://www.fortra.com/products/capacity-planning-and-performance-analysis-software

    Performance Navigator can be used for more than just sizing IBM Power for AIX, IBM i and Linux on Power.  We can also help plan for PowerHA, competitive analysis for Linux work loads, problem determination, daily/weekly/monthly MSP or management reporting, dashboards, CPW/RPERF consumption and more...

    The 'what-if' is one of my fav features. I find it very invaluable to help plan for growth/capacity as well as plotting the next HW upgrade. It has yet to produce a "false report" in terms of how many procs I will need as I move from one HW model to the next....Less procs = less IBMi OS licenses needed which equates to less $$ spent  - especially if you are a 'passport disadvantage customer'.. :-)
