Hi
Just create the lic images on the key wtih the java tool, If your key is 64 GB for example, you can put you IBMi .iso (copy & paste) after for OS and PGM.
You can download the specifique I_BASE MACH USB install and java tools from ESS. ISO B_GROUP_XX are not specific
Put your key on usb 3 port in the rear side of your Power,
Start in IPL D mode manuel and choose your key install from alternate device, if you use HMC don' forget to change I/O alternate device for USB I/O card
When Micro-Code is installed and you're ready to install OS, the key is name RMS01 if i remember correctly, just use RMS01 to install OS and pgm.
you can view your iso via wrkoptvol command
as i remember you have a limit to the key size and not all usb key work correctly, may be this has changed with TR. DONT use Kingston DATATRAVELER 128 GB, never work for me !

Subject: Booting IBM i from a USB stick
Dear Gurus! I need some help regarding booting IBM i from a USB stick or more precisely; How to gain access to the B_Group_01 image from the same USB stick.
The text file that comes with the utility to create a bootable USB stick has the following information:
"Once the bootable image has been written to your USB storage device,
you may copy any additional DVD images (e.g., IBM i and LPP ISO files)
that will fit onto your media."
Can I just dump the image file to the root of the USB stick? Or do I need to place it in a special folder?
Do I need to rename it from .UDF to .ISO?
And after I have performed the "Restore lic and initialize system" option and the server boots from disk, how do I proceed to install the operating system from DST? The B_Group_01 image is not an image catalog. How can I tell the system that there is an image file on the USB stick it should use?
Please help!
Best regards
