    Hi Experts,

We have one IBM Power Frame configured with AIX LPAR's to be managed by PowerVC. The PowerVC has been managing 10 other Frames

Recently we received the error that the Frame Status is critical. We tried to change the HMC connection  the operation was successful, But the health state reamined critical and Error.

We tried to remove the frame from PowerVC and it requested for confirmation that it will remove the LPAR configurations from PowerVC, By mistake, we gave yes, It has removed all the LPAR's running on that frame and related LUN information from PowerVC.

Now we would like to re-add the frame again and LPAR's and we would want to restore the LUN labels & Network infromation for each disk for LPAR's on the frame back to original state.

Could you please advise incase there is any way to restore the configuration back to original state.

    Hi,

Which version of PowerVC you are using?
If you are on any 1.4.x version, the procedure should be quite straightforward:

If the connection to your problematic frame is now OK via the original HMC; you should be able to simply do following:

on PowerVC GUI; go to Hosts  view > Add host > add the needed physical frame.
..Then I think that on all newer PowerVC versions the pop-up window asks within the process if you want to manage also all VMs within that frame > if all your VMs in the frame are PowerVC supported ; you can just tell PowerVC to manage all VMs.
Or another option is to add selected VMs from Hosts view by selecting the frame and then clicking "Manage Existing Virtual Machines"

Either way, PowerVC should restore all network & LUN information by default back to original state, since those VMs have been managed by the PowerVC earlier, and that data can be found in PowerVC db already.

If you feel unconfident with the process; you can also always open Support Case to IBM & they will provide you exact steps to proceed. (I had similar issue with one Storage Provider connection; it went to Error state and did not recover without removing all frames/VMs using that storage connection ; then re-creating the storage connection + Managing frames & VMs back...)

    Hope this helps,
    Br,

Provided your HMC connection to the frame is good to go, you should be able to go to Hosts and "Add Host".
