  • 1.  Samba on AIX version incompatibility with CIFS on Windows

    Posted Sun October 18, 2020 10:23 PM

Has anyone heard about incompatibility issues between Samba for AIX and CIFS for Windows? My understanding is a client of ours uses these two applications to share files between AIX and Windows environments and since the latest update to CIFS on Windows, the file sharing capability is now broken b/w Samba and CIFS.

The Samba version in our IBM AIX toolbox is sitting on version 4.10.13 -> AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications - Downloads alpha
The latest open source Samba version is 4.12.8 -> https://www.samba.org/

The client would like to know the timeline by when the latest Samba version will be available on the AIX toolbox

Appreciate any help I can get

We are working on it. Probably next week it will be available in Toolbox.

You can use bos.cifs_fs.rte 7.1 for the runtime, and bos.cifs_fs.smit for smit interface
