Classic has Dynamic Partitioning->Physical Adapters->Virtual Adapters. Actions->Create Virtual Adapter->SCSI Adapter

There is no provision for this in Enhanced - not even in the About HMC Interface options which is the cross reference chart.

The user model is that you select the storage and attach to the partition (instead of adding a client adapter, then a server adapter and then mapping the storage) and HMC internally creates the required adapters & mappings. Please see the blog at  https://ibm.co/2sFvgqD for more details on working with Virtual Storage in Enhanced UI. Same goes for Virtual Network as well.

    Thanks.

But when you plan to attach a virtual optical device to the LPAR, be sure that there is a valid virtual optical library (repository) defined on a VIO server .... if not, you will get some confusing error messages while performing lpar action ;-))! You can create optical library within the virtual storage section of a selected managed system.

    God luck!

You are soooo wrong - obviously no one has tested this. Working on a system with NO VSCSI devices created yet. lsrep shows my AIX_BASE_DVD1 and 2 as ReadOnly so any LPAR can attach.

Went thru the steps from the VIO server thru Virtual Storage and I finally get to the last screen that is supposed to marry this whole thing together (mkvdev/loadvopt). It shows nothing WHY? because the code does NOT EXIST on the Enhanced platform to create Virtual SCSI devices on the LPARS. Now I am NOT talking about DISKS - I am talking about the Virtual Optical section so your example is taken once again from something that works but it wasn't tested on Virtual Optical. See attachment. I can get everything to work but I have to use the Classic to create the vscsi for the LPAR. END of RANT. Prove me wrong please and fix the damn code.

If you look at the blog mentioned in my earlier comment, the 1st screen shot shows the Virtual Optical Device tab under Virtual Storage. So if you have a media repository created already, you should be able to attach the virtual optical device to the partition using Virtual Storage -> Virtual Optical Device. You can select the vOPT to be attached and save/apply the changes and the server/client adapters will be created automatically.

Please let us know if you hit any issues.

    Thanks.

What are the other panels where similar behavior is observed?

What is the FF version used?
