We're running AIX 7.1 TL5 SP7 and currently use CA's SysEDGE to send SNMP traps (from our NIM) to a remote server which then translates them into a Service Manager ticket.  As SysEDGE is no-longer supported we're looking to find a suitable replacement.

Having looked at the AIX native "sendtrap" command which, as IBM themselves admit, is really only for very simplistic use cases I'm wondering what options are out there either vendor supported or from within the Open Source community?

    I'd welcome your thoughts.

    Many thanks, Steve

    José,

Let me take a look and see if it would work for us.  Many thanks.

Having loaded net-snmp (v5.8) I found that the actual command to run is smtptrapd (rather than snmptrap) however I'm getting the following so will head over to AIX Open Source and continue things there.

exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program /opt/freeware/sbin/snmptrapd because of the following errors:
0509-150 Dependent module libpcre.a(libpcre.so.1) could not be loaded.
            0509-022 Cannot load module libpcre.a(libpcre.so.1).
0509-026 System error: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

    Thanks, Steve
