Hello IBM AIX colleges, and IBM AIX developers.
One of my weird hobbies is collecting old IBM RS6000 hardware and software.
My goal is collecting all the software releases form AIX that I used in the past.
And there is one release that I do not have in my collection version 3.1 and it’s minor release such as 3.1.5.
So if anyone still have cd’s 8mm, 4mm tapes or even floppy’s please let me know.
I would really appreciate it to get a copy to make my collection complete.
Versions starting with 4.1 up till the most current I have in my library :)
The same goal I have for the RS6000 hardware, and my collection expanded recently with a C20.
An nice college of my Ronald Kootstra, donated a C20 to me, See picture below.
I cleaned it completely inside and outside, and replaced the cmos battery of this beautiful machine.
After this I tried to startup the engine, but one of the disk was damaged, after removing this disk (it was a secondary disk) the system came a live without any problem!
This after a long sleep (2014 was the last time my college used it).
I decided to do overwrite install on the machine with AIX 5.1 and with the VAC7 C compiler.
And after this this item was added to my hardware museum.
I managed to collect some more of those oldies, and it also shows again the robustness, all the items are in a working condition!
Items collected: RS6000: E20, H50 + SSA cabinet, P4 (7028) ,P6-520 (8203), P7 740 (8205)
Still looking for my first one RS6000 350, or 220, and now for a Power8 system to run in the near future AIX 7.3! So please do not throw away those oldies but notify me.
