What does the 'MIC' in MICSERVICE stand for?
And what purpose does MICSERVICE serve?

The information on the web is a bit light:

The MIC service supports integrations. I'm not super familiar with what the name is supposed to represent (I assume Maximo Interface *something*), probably a relic of the V5 era when integration support was an addon service.

In general, services in Maximo support a lot of important processes such as building caches, exposing methods that will be referenced by multiple objects/attributes (including flagging some as webmethods so they can be utilized in integrations), etc. There are quite a few services out of the box, and industry solutions/add-ons typically add more on top of that.
