Internally at BPD we use the Email listener for the service desk. If there is no SR number in the subject line, Maximo generates a service request and ties the subject line to the description, the body of the email to the long description. If there is an SR number (with ## ## around the sides in our case) it will create a new communication log entry for that SR. Any attachments on the emails will be brought in as attachments on the SR.
Additionally, we have recently implemented a solution for an Australian Port to do the same thing for the Work Order object. I would need to confirm if this was a specific form template or if it was just free text.Hope that is useful.
