If your TimeoutNotification node uses the Controlled operation mode, you can use either a local default queue manager or a remote default queue manager to control the system queues. Interactions between an independent integration server and IBM MQ can use a client connection to a remote queue manager, by using a default policy setting.
You still need to insure that the default system queues have been created on this QM.
If your TimeoutNotification node uses the Automatic operation mode, no queue manager is required however this would mean your timeoutnotification node is not paired with a control node.
What is the actual error you are seeing? Without knowing the error, we can only guess as to the issue.
