    Hello,

I would like to understand the APIC 5.0.0.8 to APIC 2018.4.1.x upgradation path.
Does in-place upgradation is possible from APIC 5.0.0.8 to APIC 2018.4.x on the same host where APIC 5.0.0.8 running ?
Do i need to setup a separate docker environment for APIC 2018.4.x and then API need to be backup from V5 and restore into V2018.4.x.?
How generally people upgrade/migrate APIC 5.0.0.8 to APIC 2018.4.1.x? Does both the environment co-exist each other?
If you have APIC 5.0.0.8 existing cluster environment then what would be the approach to migrate APIC 5 nodes into APIC V2018.4.x env?
Does APIC 5.0.0.8 instances and APIC V2018.4.x instance can  be part of same cluster?

Somehow I did not find this information in the APIC knowledge center and that is the reason looking your experts help.
Also if possible where to download APIC V2018.4.x trial edition to implement similar POC?

    Thank you,
    mikew

    Hi Mike,

You would have to use the Migration Utility to migrate from v5.

The current migration path from v5 is to v10 (refer https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSMNED_2018/com.ibm.apic.install.doc/migrating.html ).
More details and steps on migrating a v5 deployment to v10 deployment can be found at https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSMNED_v10/com.ibm.apic.install.doc/migrating.html .

    Edit: updated links.

    Regards,
    Sumanto

    Hi Sumanto,

Thank you for the your response.
Unfortunately, I am looking an upgrade approach from APIC V5.0.8.8 to APIC 2018.4.X.
Can we directly migrate APIC V5.0.8.8 to APIC 2018.4.1.13 latest release?
Present APIC V5.0.8.8 cluster on windows environment and looking an approach to migrate to APIC V2018.4.1.x.
APIC V2018 build on containerized platform so it may not possible (not too sure) to migrate node by node in V2018 with the APIC V5 cluster.
The APIC 2018 nodes may not coexist within APIC 5.0 cluster!
Can any experts please suggest the best practice to migrate running APIC 5.0 Cluster to APIC V2018?
