Please let me how to download IBM Datapower Gateway - Virtual image for IBM Cloud Linux CentOS.
Can I download virtual datapower software/image (IDG V7.6.x.) from IBM Fix Central for IBM Cloud CentOS?
Please let me know from where to download above IDG Virtual appliance software for the PoC purpose on Linux Environment..

    Thank you,

    Hello Mike,

The only "free" option that you would have for your PoC is to use the developer edition available on Docker.
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SS9H2Y_10.0/com.ibm.dp.doc/virtual_aboutvirtualdatapower.html

If you want to use another form factor you would need to request evaluation license that can be obtain through the country account manager.
You will then be able to download it from Passport Advantage.
    https://www.ibm.com/software/passportadvantage/pao_customer.html

Now if it is about discovering the solution you might also be interested by the on demand demo environment where an image will be provisioned and you will be able to have hands on:

Why do you want to make a POC with a firmware 14 months past end of life?
Please use either 2018.4.1.x or 10.0.1.y firmwares.

    Hi Hermann,

Our customer is still using APIC 5.0.x on most of the environments and there is no such plan to migrate into 2018.4.x or V10 container platform.
There will be plan to migrate but not recent.
So I would like to setup similar APIC 5.0.x environment and Datapower Virtual on IBM Cloud - Linux environment for the POC purposes.
Can you please suggest from where I can download these specific version and installed on IBM Cloud - Linux.

    Thank you,
    wagnermc

Hi Mike, the best way is to download DataPower from dockerhub Docker Hub It is a deployable container and can run "everywhere" like described here Build Docker images locally and in the cloud . If you like it you can convert the DataPower Developer instance to a DataPower Virtual using this procedure https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SS9H2Y_7.5.0/com.ibm.dp.doc/virtual_convertingdeveloperslimitedtove.html

    Hi Mike,

Let me mention one outdated / ancient option that I used for running a POC with the V5 APIC in a cloud Linux environment (single Ubuntu node in Google Cloud with Docker, without k8s), some 3 years ago or so:

    https://github.com/strongloop/apiconnect-docker

This package contains docker image for the developer portal and management server too, unless you were planning to use some existing deployment for these components (or some other infra for running these two APIC components that are not trivial to deploy to cloud with V5 I think, though IBM Cloud has some VMware capabilities that might do the job for you, not sure).

Word of caution: it's old v5060 that you get with this package, and I think there's no way to upgrade / apply any APIC firmware fixes in this setup, so it's missing all the latest v50x features and number of critical security fixes (critical especially for the drupal / developer portal part).

    Br, Panu

    Hi Mike,
APIC v5 (current 5.0.8.10-ifix) is compatible with current supported DataPower 2018.4.1.15 and 10.0.1.2, so there is no blocker in integrating with those instead of with >12 months outdated 7.6.0.x. That doesn't mean any container style as in APIC v2018/v10 is needed.
Please keep in mind that APIC v5 goes out of service by April 30 2022, so ensure to consult with your local IBM team in regards to migration to v10 within the next 12 months.
I'm not perfectly sure about how easy it is to integrate with IDG4Docker given in HA setups APICv5 will attempt to push the AO license onto DP if not present (it can be added while building the image though, see KC). Possibly for PoC it is not that blocking, or you just go with the IDG4Linux offering you seek for already.

HI @August Ziesemer - Have question on DataPower V10 firmware, In our environmnet we have APIC v 5.0.8.7 , as of now our physical appliance is running on 2018.4.1.11. We are planing to upgrade DataPower firmware to latest v10 ,  will this work , does apic v 5.0.8.7 supports datapower V10 firmware ?

    Hi Suresh,
Kindly consider to start a new thread if a topic that goes beyond original scope of this thread here. Thank you.
As per SPCR (https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/softwareReqsForProduct.html) APIC 5.0.8.x is compatible with 2018.4.1.x and 10.0.1.x.
I would rather ask: is there a specific feature only available in v10 that you don't have in v2018? If you don't need any but just aim for latest is greatest why not just go for 2018.4.1.15 at this time which offers similar latest level of security/stability/functional fixes as 10.0.1.2 just no new release risks and so possibly less testing effort / chance to break stuff.
Feel free to test both latest fixpacks.
If more questions raise a support case at https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/ or start a new thread here.
    Best Regards,
    August
