Ever wondered what makes a cloud-native application "cloud-native"? Ever wondered what the unique challenges are and how best to address them on fully-open Java technologies? In this
workshop series, you'll learn what it means to be cloud-native and how that impacts application development.
We will look at the the requirements for microservices and the concerns that matter to application developers. We will also explore containers, container-based platforms, service mesh and how they integrate with your cloud-native applications as well as considerations for development and DevOps tools.
In each of the workshops, you'll have time to put knowledge into practice and get your hands dirty by building and experimenting with microservices using open source technologies, from RESTful services, scaling your services, monitoring and observability, DevOps to deploying to cloud.
By the end of the of the series, you will be ready for a bright new open cloud-native world!

The Open Cloud-Native workshop series includes the following events:
July 9 - 8:30am to 12pm - Module 1: Introduction to Microservices Development
July 30- 8:30am to 12pm - Module 2: Developing Scalable Microservices
August 13- 8:30am to 12pm - Module 3: Developing Observable Microservices
September 12- 8:30am to 12pm - Module 4: Deploying and Managing Microservices to Cloud
October 1st- 8:30am to 12pm - Module 5: End-to-End Cloud-Native Application Development using Eclipse Codewind
Spoiler alert: There will be doses of open source and cloud technologies such as Eclipse MicroProfile, Open Liberty, Kubernetes, Istio and Eclipse Codewind in this workshop.

Attendance of prior workshops is not a pre-req for any of the modules. Each module in the series is standalone.
