Storwize V7000 Array Compatibility

    Hi,

Sorry for my level of questioning on the community but we are new to IBM Storage and are on a journey learning about Storwize V7000

    Is it possible to mix Gen 1, 2 & 3 array's with a 2076-124 controller?

We have a Storwize V7000 2076-124 and would like to connect a 2076-24F array via SFF-8644 to SFF-8088

Any advise would be very much appreciated...

    Cheers

    Hello.
Model 12F, 24F, and 92F expansion enclosures are only supported for attachment to Models 524 and 624 control enclosure. Previous generation Storwize V7000 control enclosures (Models 112, 124, 312, and 324) do not support the attachment of Model 12F,24F, and 92F expansion enclosures.

    Hi,

I would like to add a comment: running a Gen.1 (modell 124) means, that you are having a quite high maintenance fee, especially for SWMA. This was due to the fact, that this generation of V7000 had a fairly low hardware portion and a fairly high software portion of the price.

When looking for an expansion of this system, you might better consider a new system instead - a FlashSystem 5030 would be a good replacement, you might also look for the 5100 with FCM and compression.

    kind regards
    Konrad
