Yes absolutely. MQ channels are able to communicate with any other version of MQ, both higher or lower than themselves.
P.S. When you have a question not related to the thread you are in, please consider making a new thread in future.

And to know what version of MQ Client is connecting to MQ server, execute command `DISPLAY CHSTATUS(channel-name) RVERSION`

Yes certainly! Any version of MQ client can connect to any version of an MQ Queue Manager, on any platform.

    Hi,

Don't forget however that support for a particular version of client is tied to support for that version of queue manager. So the V8 client went out of standard support on the 30th April this year. If you have an extended support contract for version 8 then you will be able to carry on getting your client supported.

I thought the v8 end of support get extended to September 30, 2020 due to COVID-19.

    Hi Tim,

I'm not aware of any blanket statement saying that, and it still says the April date on the EOS web site.

    I stand corrected!

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/711837

    Says:

"In order to help customers through the challenges caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, IBM has announced Limited Continuing Support (LCS) for IBM MQ 8.0 and other selected offerings through 30 September 2020. Customers with active Software Subscription and Support coverage (S&S) on these offerings will be able to receive support for routine, short duration installation and usage questions and code-related questions. Also included is 7-day, 24-hour support for mission critical emergencies (severity 1 cases) and access to existing available fixes created before the MQ 8.0 End of Support date, but new security fixes and patches will require a service extension. "

Either way, you need to be careful that you have suitable support in place if you are planning on still using a V8 client.

    Regards, Matt.

    Hi everyone,

Take a look at my latest blog,  What's New in IBM MQ 9.2? | IBM MQ continues to be an excellent choice for robust, scalable, enterprise grade messaging. With MQ V9.2, it is easier to deploy MQ in more ways than ever before here

I hope you can join me for my webcast on Tuesday, July 28th at 10 AM ET. You can register here and post any questions below.

    Regarding DevOps for MQ9.2.
Skilled developers are able to extend MQ Explorer with their own functions
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSFKSJ_9.2.0/com.ibm.mq.explorer.doc/e_writing_plugins.htm
    What about the web console.
Are developers able to extend the console with own code?

    Hi John,
I can't seem to get into your MQ Security box link:  ibm.biz/MQSecureConn - private to IBM perhaps?

    thanks,
    john.

    Hi John,
Sorry, that was a mistake. We do intend to get that internal write up into a form so that we can publish it soon, probably via this forum.

No worries - I look forward to it :-)
Oh, and, what the heck, I'll ask again - any chance you're going to put MQIPT function into Datapower now MQIPT seems to be getting a bit more support ;-)
