Controlling task start up at IPL

I know they say there is no such thing as a dumb question. My apologies up front if this qualifies.

I have inherited a system that was really only set up to take advantage of SA timers. All start up and shutdown activity is done outside of SA. We have a number of APLs defined to SA but I don't see any START commands being issued for them out of SA.

How would you turn off system start up activities in SA to allow this to happen?

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks!!

I may have found some of the answers here myself.

It appears this system has had APLs in DENIED status for quite some time which would inhibit the automation for that APL (if I understand how SA works). On top of that the default start up for the AM is HOT which will retain these statuses across IPLs.

I would think a better way to do this would be to simply reply NOSTART to the AOF767I message.
