While technology is constantly improving, there are some people that unfortunately are still lacking behind. Not because they are willing buy circumstances are such that they do not have the mean to provide for themselves or their children with access to the basic technology. Yes, these people do exist! And it is sad to see that in some part of the world changes occur very fast but on the other side it can take decades. I strongly believe that each student should have at least in their procession a desktop computer/laptop, even if it is not as fast as the modern model. Just for the student to be able to learn about what passionate them and what they would want their life to be. SDG 4 should be a priority to all as education is they key for any nation that want to move forward and develop.
With Covid-19, almost all the educational institutions have move online, but how would a student without the basic technology tools be able to study? It is a fact that not having access to technology have kept some students from succeeding. For every problem there is a solution! That does include the restricted access of technologies to students. Companies often upgrade the technologies of their collaborators, and with the old technology, what future do they have now? Most probably it would be thrown or maybe recycle? What if we give a second life to all those computers that would not be in use again? Many big companies could donate their old laptops/ desktop computers to NGOs who will distribute those machines to students! Surely the computers would need to go through some maintenance, but volunteers to help in this task would never go missing. With this project, not only the SDG 4 would be fulfilled, the SDG 1,5,9,10,11,12 would also be partially fulfilled. And that would be a major win for humanity!
