I'm part of this club at my university called the Business Intelligence and Analytics club. It's all about data science and analytics. And so far, it's the greatest club I've been a part of. Not because it's data science and geeky, but because the club is so people-oriented. Everyone seems to truly care for one another beyond academics, and even after a long learning session, we would often go out for supper together! I instantly feel like I belong there and the camaraderie of the club is strong.

Meanwhile, other clubs I joined didn't really have such atmosphere. People would just sit, learn and leave afterwards.

So, what makes a club great for me is the feeling of friendship and trust with one another, which is in my opinion more valuable than the knowledge you can obtain from the club.

I am part of the Google  Developers Club at my university. This club is sponsored by Google and everybody in this club is involved with various tech stacks required for making real world applications that are robust and can scale up to a large userbase.
What makes this club a great one is the fact that almost all the technical sessions/seminars are hand-on practical ones which makes the learning a lot more fun in comparison to long boring lectures. And the club also conducts various hackathons regularly which makes it more interesting as it gives an opportunity to apply the learnt skills and win some cool swags from Google's side.

Another thing that makes the club a great one is the relationship between the junior and the senior class students in the club. There's a friendly cooperation between them regardless of their seniority level which is not seen in other clubs.

So that's my experience and opinions about what makes a club a great one.

I picked my university because of the mentorship from the older students - it makes such a difference!

Hello Julie! In our college(Asansol Engineering College),we have lots of tech club/community. Among them I am actively connected with our departmental tech club called SIC(Student Innovation Center). My friend @Sourik Kabi (who is a ZAmbassador too!) is the coordinator of this club. And my another friend @Prithiraj Nandan(ZAmbassador too) is also a part of this club. It's amazing that we are together here too! Now talking about SIC(Student Innovation Center), I love to take part on the events being organize by this club. Every year they have organised a grand event "Electronics Innovation",I just love it! Every year 120+ groups come along with their innovative ideas(Project).Students from other colleges also participate in this event. Along with this , Tech Quiz,PPT presentation,Debate,Poster making competition on technical topics are also there.I just love to work with this club as I get to know more about outstanding innovative ideas and also learn from the students and the judges from the different organisations who use to attend this event.😃

    Hey Julie!

One of my roles at my university (Chandigarh University) includes coordinator of Presenter's Club. Here as in a coordinator, I am a part of events.cse team which is all about conducting tech workshops, expert talks, hackathons and almost just everything that sparks a light of technology. In the past year, I have hosted a lot of sessions along with my teammates. The best part is I have always felt a great sense of both enjoyment and accomplishment in doing so.

Another thing that makes it great for me is the opportunity to connect with like-minded people. By joining the events.cse team, I was able to connect with seniors and professors who are really at a good stage in their tech oriented career. What else is great that, it feels awesome in doing something out of the sphere of the academic curriculum.

I am part of Trestle Academy Accra at my university. We usually meet to discuss and have practical sessions on Artificial intelligence. Aside the meetings together and teamwork where one would see fellow students and developers work on interesting projects, there is the fun side of going to other tech programs and taking part in hackathons.

    Hello Manasseh,

I am Delanda Harper a student at Albany State University. Trestle Academy Accra sounds like a very interesting club! I am also apart of a club at my university called ACM or Associating Computing Machinery. I officially became Vice President in January 2020. In the club we host bi-weekly meetings in regards to how we can promote the Tech Industry to other students around campus. Advocating for Technology, volunteering with the youth, and bonding as a team are our goals we strive for each semester. I will definitely have to tell the club about having practical sessions on Artificial Intelligence. That would be a great topic of discussion!

As an experienced COBOL Programmer, getting ready to re-enter the workforce, I find the different problems that programmers are experiencing, and the solutions very helpful.

I look forward to becoming part of the new Tech clubs here at the IBMZ Global Student Hub.

At my school, I am involved in the robotics club! In robotics we compete in statewide championships where your robots are given a task in which they have to complete. This may be to recover a "body" from debris or fix a power pole that had fallen. The set ups are obviously fake and miniature but you need to be able to make sure your robot has the intelligence and capability to perform these tasks. Pretty much-every year we get sent a box of parts and everybody has their own role in the group. I personally, am a designer. I design where the parts are going to go and what it will look like. My job specifically is not only designing the robot but I have to know what the parts are to know where they are going to go which is what makes it a little more difficult but it's absolutely amazing!
