Weekly t-shirt challenge: Your favorite way to cool off

How do you cool off in hot weather?

I'm clearly hanging out with like-minded people here in this community because you all recommended so many movies I already love!  I got a number of new suggestions (The Imitation Game, Instant Family, JoJo Rabbit, Get Smart), some reminders of old favorites I haven't seen in a while (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Dances with Wolves) and lots that we watch often (Wallace and Gromit, NeverEnding Story, Hidden Figures).

But the winner is Princess Bride, which should surprise no one.  This movie has become a huge classic, but few love it so much as the geek community!

As I type this, I'm sitting outside in my yard in rural New York on a hot day.  We don't have air conditioning, so staying cool is something we have to plan for.  We close the curtains during the day and open the windows with fans at night.  This is possible only because in New York it gets hot during the day, but it cools off quite a bit most nights.

I know that some of you live in very hot climates and some others are just starting on your fall season.  But it would be great to hear what you do in your country to cool off on a hot day.

    The rules*:
    1.  Every Thursday, I'll start a new discussion thread titled Weekly Challenge.

    2.  This week, reply to the thread with your favorite way to cool off.

    3.  Vote for your favorite entries by clicking the "Recommend" button next to your favorites.

    4.  The following Thursday, I'll announce the winner and start the next week's thread.

    5.  The person submitting the item with the most votes will receive one of these Legends of Z t-shirts (or equivalent)!

    * The rules are not really rules.  This isn't a real contest or anything.  It's just something I feel like doing and having a fun excuse to share some cool t-shirts with you.  I hope you all have fun with it.  I am!

    Misty

I love to eat ice cream sandwich on a hot day! They can be found almost everywhere in Singapore.

The combination of bread and ice cream is just simply amazing :)
    Some stalls offer wafers too!

Can't wait for ice cream stalls to reopen when the virus is over.
    Meanwhile, stay safe everyone!

    Thank you for sharing!

It's interesting that in the U.S., a sandwich uses bread but an ice cream sandwich uses cookies.

The most chilling thing that I love to have during the hottest days is a dish named 'Falooda'. It's a popular dish in India, and apart from the fancy name I am quite sure that this item is available in different parts of the world in different names. Its a mixture of ice-cream, tutti-frutties, cashews , several syrups, chia seeds and raisins. Its one hella healthy item to chill off during a hot day.
Image not taken by me, but was free to download
Another item that I would have is Keventers Milkshake, the butterscotch one.
My mouth just turns into a Niagara Falls of saliva whenever I get even the aroma of these items😂.

In the U.S. we have "ice cream sundaes" but it's unlikely to find anything healthy like chia seeds in it.  :-)

Yours looks both delicious and much less guilt-inducing!

I go to the beach. Love the beach with the ocean breeze and cool water. Especially the local beach near me is soft sand and flat which creates tidal pools at low tide. Great place to cool off and relax.

I live in Ireland. What is this "hot weather" people keep talking about?

Hot weather in Ireland = 18 degrees C and everyone puts on swimsuits to sunbathe.    :-)

My favorite way to cool off on a hot summer day is to head into the city (I'm in  Chicago) for some Mario's italian ice. It's cool and refreshing and you feel brand new after you've eaten it.

In our country(India) it's already Summer. In hot summer day I like to spend more time under the shower. Sometimes I just open the fridge door and stand in-front of it until my Maa(Mother) starts scolding me😜. Most of the time I myself use to get tempered in hot weather and cooling myself by sitting alone in an open air area with a glass of cold drinks!

    Very clever with the fridge!

I once worked in an ice cream shop and I used to make excuses to stand in the ice cream freezer on hot days.  :-)

    I
live in India and cold seasons here are like once in a blue moon. Out of 365 days, 300 days are hot🥵, so we all keep on inventing newer methods (juggads)💡 to keep ourselves cool.
My personal way of keeping myself is, to go to a riverbank🌊 (which is about 5 km from my home), sit under a large and shady banyan tree🌳(which is, according to some, older than 100 years)  and drink coconut🥥 water.

Now this sounds like a very traditional method tested by centuries of people doing the same.

    Quite wise!
