We would like to showcase some of the most exciting developments around IBM Z.
Our first speaker Steve Warren will discuss the latest on z/OS 3.1 and how to get the most out of it. The newest release of the IBM Z flagship operating system, z/OS 3.1, has just been made generally available a few weeks ago. You will hear about all the new functions in z/OS 3.1, including how we have infused AI into the operating system to provide the highest levels of availability. This will be a fast-paced session covering a lot of topics and at the end of our time together, you should have a good idea about which new functions of the operating system will bring the greatest value to you and your company.
Next, Shelly Meierarend will show you what IBM is doing to help build a sustainable mainframe workforce. The topic will discuss the IBM zSkills program and its work to build future zSkills, attract and train up and coming talent.
This will be followed by Db2 13 for z/OS Technical Highlights. Db2 13 for z/OS which became generally available last year, delivers a bevy of new features and functions for Db2 DBAs, systems programmers, users and application developers. In this session Robert Catterall will provide information on migrating to Db2 13, along with a technical overview of the most significant enhancements provided by Db2 13, from SQL Data Insights and application-specific lock timeout to autobind phase-in and online partition-by-growth to partition-by-range table space conversion.
Finally, take the worry out of programming your jobs, checking and double checking for code standard compliance, ensuring DevOps processes are delivered while meeting business SLAs for your hybrid cloud applications by allowing IBM Z JCL Expert to do the heavy lifting for you. In this session, Clyde Richardson & Domenico D’Alterio will show you how IBM Z JCL Expert, when integrated with Zowe, helps you automatically check your jobs as part of your CI/CD pipeline in a fraction of the time it would normally take, allowing you to focus on the more value-adding functions of your role. A live demo of the Zowe integrated features will be shown in the session.
