    Hello all,

I am tossing about changing the SESSION_EXPIRE value, so that my session does not time out from one day to the next while I am installing z/OS 3.1.

Has anyone set their values to the above, or other long values to prevent day-to-day timeouts while working?

I set it to 1400 and restarted the Angel and Server and I saw this in the Server startup:

    IZUG018W: The property LTPA_EXPIRE is set to 1405.      ç New value + 5.

WARNING: The value specified for SESSION_EXPIRE must be less than LTPA_EXPIRE.  ç Which it is now.

In looking at the warning message: IZUG018W:

IZUG018W   The property the-property is set to the-value. The value is

incorrect. The default value of the-default will be used.

    Explanation

The specified timeout value is incorrect. The specified default value will be used.

Now this leads me to believe that the value I set – 1400 – is not correct. Any ideas?

    Best Regards,

    Claude

    Hello,

Yes, we have clients who have changed SESSION_EXPIRE value to 43200 (which is 30 days). Please note that value is in minutes. So setting SESSION_EXPIRE to 1400 will cause time out to happen before 24 hours (1440 minutes).

It's normal to get warning message as you have seen when z/OSMF processes SESSION_EXPIRE value that is valid. LTPA_EXPIRE is bumped up by 5 minutes than the SESSION_EXPIRE value.

IZUG018W: The property LTPA_EXPIRE is set to 1405.

WARNING: The value specified for SESSION_EXPIRE must be less than LTPA_EXPIRE.

Following message in documentation need to be updated with what you are observing. We will take care of fixing documentation.

    IZUG018W
The property the-property is set to the-value. The value is incorrect. The default value of the-default will be used.
