  • 1.  IDz on Apple Silicon (AArch64)

Anyone aware if the IDz development team is working on a AArch64 version? I know there is a MAC x64 version, but Apple is not making those anymore. I'd due for a new laptop and would prefer a new MacBook rather than yet another Windoze machine.

    Hi Kenny,

That's something IDz is very, very interested in as well. Unfortunately, it is not something we support yet. We understand the demand for this silicone support is only going to increase, which is why we're actively investigating this area.

I wish I could provide a timeline. But rest assured, I'm right there with you on this. If anything changes, I'll provide an update here.

    Hey Kenny,

I've got an M1 MacBook Pro as do lots of my colleagues and we have no issues with CICS Explorer running with the x86_64 emulation provided with the Mac.

I've started up IDz with no issues and clicked around in the recent past although I haven't used it a lot.

Generally my experience is that I have had no issues running Eclipse x86_64 on my Mac over the 4 years I've had it.

Unless there's a specific reason Andrew Tram knows of why it's a bad idea!

IDz includes functionality that is highly dependent on the operating system and architecture. When you encounter this feature, it attempts to launch a platform- and architecture-specific binary. If the binary fails to load properly, it can lead to crashes.

If you're using an emulator like Rosetta, it might work, but I haven't been able to verify that myself.
