We have all heard about IBM at some point in our life and speculation about the slowly diminishing value of mainframe programming, but after attending IBM Z,  I would agree on never being more wrong. There is real demand for mainframe-literate developers and although I'm a newbie when it comes to learning about Mainframe Programming and how IBM Z works, the z/Os operating system, Cloud computing, one can never learn enough when IBM Z Xplore is there to keep us on our feet.

But I surely would like to pat my back for learning some interesting facts from the IBM Z day like, the Z in IBM Z stands for Zero Downtime capable of making 1,157,407 transactions in just a second. The IBM Z incorporates S390 architecture in it and is so trustworthy that around 85 out of 100 World Wide Banks use IBM Z on backend.

Also there are so many things to learn and challenges to complete in the IBM Z Xplore platform ranging from fundamental concepts to advanced, I can be sure that at the end I will be skilled enough to build something good from all the skills accumulated. We will get to learn mainframe languages like COBOL, JCL while earning points to gain a position on the leaderboard and access to rewards, plus all of these are free of cost. Its never to late to gain knowledge about things that runs the world when IBM Z Xplore is providing so much to grasp at one go, all the technology and data with an eager community that wants us to grow with them. Never felt more welcomed than this.

Oh! and how can I forget to mention, there is a IBM Z Student contest coming up in October to put our developer skills to test, all these challenges, rewards and the educative initiative taken up by IBM Z and Shooting Stars Foundation makes me thank the heavens for making me a Gen Z.

Agreed Sudharsana - it is great to hear young people that are so passionate about the best computing platform in the world.

We are already on architecture level 13 which is implemented in z15, and the original S/360 architecture and operating systems were so well designed in the early 1960s that most application programs written for those first machines and OS/360 in 1965 can still run on the latest IBM Z processor on z/OS 2.5 (available end September).

Go for it Parijat and all the other young people that have seen zeee light.
