We are installing ADFZ 4.0.1, it has no program directory and IBM support said they don't support the bundle, only the individual products. The bundle came with the common components 1.9.0,  fault analyzer 15.1, application performance analyzer 15.1 and the developer kit.  They all have separate program directories, do you install them all together in the same CSI target zone?

We do.  It is sometimes hard to coordinate the host pieces with the IDZ pieces as sometimes new host pieces are incompatible with what is on the workstations and we cannot upgrade mainframe and workstations simultaneously.

Dan, in general IDz tries to allow updating either the client or the host first.  This is described in more detail here: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-developer-zos-backwardforward-compatibility

Of course there are times when a new feature is added to the client and in order to make use of it the host must also be updated, but for general IDz functionality having different versions on the client and host should work just fine.

The individual product communities were combined into the Application Development and Pipeline community https://www.ibm.com/community/z/software/development-and-pipeline so you may find additional blogs and discussions there as well.   Also there is the Host Configuration Assistant which is described here https://ibm.github.io/mainframe-downloads/host-configuration-assistant.html that can be useful in determining what needs to be installed and configured based on choices specific to your shop.
