At the Summer Learning Sprint, we just ran the Career Panel session where we were joined by the amazing @Anna McKee and Kaelin McMenamy, who spoke about early student recruitment at IBM and working at IBM.
The IBM zSystems Student Ambassadors who attended, were able to gain:

    • Insights on how recruitment at IBM works
    • The opportunity to meet an early Professional Talent Acquisition Specialist at IBM and Z/OS Systems Programmer.
    • Learn how to position yourself for success in your career

We asked those who attended to share what their takeaways were from the session:

Listening to the words of professionals like Anna and Kaelin has been very good, sometimes we feel very pressured to learn things, technologies or we don't know which ones to learn that we lose our way, we have to focus and an example of this is Anna who told us about her experience with her job on Mainframe and how she started, Kaelin also helped me a lot about creating a good CV and her words of motivation :)

The session was extremely insightful.  My major takeaway from the presentation is that one should prepare their resume well, and start applying for positions early for them to increase their chances of being hired at IBM

Thank you @Anna McKee and Kaelin for an informative session. A key takeaway from this session was the use of WayUp as a hiring platform. I was not aware of WayUp before. All the tips Kaelin presented about a well-written resume, a personal brand, connections, and networking was super helpful. It is always a breath of fresh air to hear Anna speak about her experience as someone who had difficulty deciding on a career track. It can be exhausting to fit in to a standard of career path that we see around us, but anybody who has achieved great success knows that careers don't make people. People make careers.

it's very amazing how much I can gain in one hour,
my takeaways were: It's okay to take your time to figure out what you want and where you want to go,
You only have to keep learning !

Hearing from Anna and Marlin was really helpful! Especially Anna bringing up the fact that you don't have to know exactly what you want to do right out of college and Kaelin adding that you should focus on highlighting the breadth of your skills and interests on your resume.
