Hi Everyone,
Thanks for everyone's input - I am familiar with ZBNA and it's capabilities and benefits - but does not really summarize holistically the use of ZIIP processors as I'm looking for plus it only focuses on batch job activity - not started tasks or online / DB activity (CICS, DB2, IMS, etc).
If I'm using RMF sounds like best I can get via post processor reports (Monitor 1) is a breakout by service class - is that right? For those really good at Monitor 1 reporting does someone know the best input command parameters for Monitor 1 post processor reports to see ZIIP utilization by service class?
Thanks but truly thinking / hoping there should be an easier way maybe than "ancient" RMF Post Processor reporting, but maybe is best I got?
Thanks,
Steve Estle

Understanding the how and why of zIIP use may not be at the top of to-do lists but it is increasingly important as AI goes from science fiction to pilot projects to production. One fact remains from all the threads and advice here, experiment with what you have and pick what you like. Tools and views are available. Did you know energy by LPAR can be read from the HMC as of 2Q? The design point of z, running many diverse workloads at high utilization rates, needs tools and monitors to promote efficiency and planning to exploit z resources.

"What ISN'T in these records..."
Which is why I'd recommend that the customer use the tools they bought instead of inventing new ones... the likelihood of combining the records right the first (seventeenth?) time is ... unlikely.

Agree Scott. I'm glad you raised zIIP-on-GCP. This is visible in RMF (72-3) and SMF 30 (all subtypes). What ISN'T in these records is why. SMF 70 Subtype 1 gives much of the answer, though some WLM-related clues might appear in 72-3.

All of the major (and minor) performance monitoring tools (Omegamon, Sysview, Mainview, TMON, et al) will give you many different slices at zIIP measurements (e.g. total use, use by address space/STC/job, use by enclave, zIIP eligible but not run on zIIP), it's just a matter of looking for the pages/panels that display what you want.

Hi,
We're running ZOS 2.5 and have ZIIP processors and wanted to run some reports to determine overall ZIIP usage and by what jobs, started tasks, programs are using? What is best way to report and measure on such usage of the ZIIP processors?
Please advise.
Thanks,
