Reliably scheduling, monitoring, and managing batch jobs on the mainframe is business critical to any IBM Z based enterprise. IBM Z Workload Scheduler is the proven, reliable, and highly scalable product to manage these batch jobs and is a member of the IBM Workload Automation product family which has once again received the highest rating “Value Leader” in the latest EMA report comparing Workload Automation products.
IBM Z Workload Scheduler is also a core building block in our AIOps strategy for IBM Z.
As the complexity of workloads is increasing, the environments are becoming more hybrid, and organizations are facing skills shortages, it is important that we have a product strategy that supports the following three main themes:
1. Hybrid cloud integration:
Nowadays, the mainframe is no longer isolated. Instead, it is connected to distributed systems and cloud environments. With more than 100 job-plugins available for a variety of job types you can easily use IZWS to automate jobs running in cloud environments, trigger file-transfers, interact with IT service management tools, and much more together with jobs running on the mainframe.
On top of that you can integrate IZWS in your enterprise observability and analytics solutions.
2. Cross-portfolio integration
It is important that our IBM Z AIOps tools work well together as most likely multiple tools are used to monitor and manage the mainframe environment.
IZWS has out-of-the-box integrations with IBM Service Management Unite, Z ChatOps and Zowe command line interface. This allows for a collaborative and consolidated workflow across multiple management domains either from web-based dashboards, an enterprise chat platform like MS Teams, or from an integrated CLI user experience that is also useful for DevOps workflows.
3. Evolving AI
With increased complexity and skills shortages, it becomes more and more important to make use of AI-driven intelligence.
In IZWS you can make use of predictive SLA management, AI-powered anomaly detection, and even exploit AI-infused scheduling on the latest z/OS operating system.
